Taylor Swift did her first Ellen DeGeneres Show appearance in years this week, where DeGeneres got her to talk about her favorite movie (Someone Great on Netflix, but that’s only off of movies she watched in the last week), whether she washes her legs in the shower, if she had anything to do with Avengers: Endgame (no), and many more topics—though, expectedly, her boyfriend Joe Alwyn was not one of them. But the most surprising confession DeGeneres got from Swift was her regrets on the way she treated her ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas when she was on the Ellen show before.
For context, Swift was 18 then, and she publicly put Jonas on blast for the way he broke up with her. “We haven’t talked since [the breakup], actually,” she started. “So it’s like, yeah, but you know what? Someday I’m going to find someone really, really great who’s right for me and…” DeGeneres then cut in to jokingly suggest she date one of Jonas’s brothers. There was some laughter, but eventually Swift returned to that sentiment of finding someone better, and that’s when she let how Jonas broke up with her slip. “Oh, it’s okay. It’s all right. I’m cool. You know what? It’s like when I find that person, that is right for me and he’ll be wonderful, and when I look at that person, I’m not even going to be able to remember the boy who broke up with me over the phone in 25 seconds when I was 18.”
Now at 29, Swift was asked what the most rebellious thing she did as a teenager was during DeGeneres’s Burning Questions game. “Probably when I put Joe Jonas on blast on your show,” she answered. “That was too much. Yeah, that was too much. I was 18. We laugh about it now. That was mouthy, yeah, teenage stuff there.”
