First, A Note on Healing a Piercing

Regardless which trend you end up trying, it’s worth noting that a tremendous part of the healing process is the aftercare. Thompson recommends mild soap without alcohol or fragrance to keep the piercing clean, so you can show off your style for years to come.

Then, consider healing times before choosing a piercing placement. “Lobes take 10 to 12 weeks to heal, and that’s longer than normal because of the pandemic,” said Thompson. “Usually it’s eight to 10 weeks, but with masks, it’s longer. Cartilage takes six months to a year to heal right now. And that’s when you can start changing out your styles.”
