6 Different Nail Art Shapes to Up Your Manicure Game

1) Dots

 

One of the most classic and beautiful nail art shapes is the dot. You can use dots to create all sorts of unique and stylish designs, from polka dots to flower petals. Plus, they’re easy to do yourself! All you need is a toothpick or a dotting tool.
The key to creating a perfect dot is in your grip. To start, hold your dotting tool—or toothpick—so that you’re gripping it vertically. Then, place it on top of your nail and press down so that it makes contact with just one point on your nail. After that, remove it, dip it back into polish and reapply to make dots at different points on your nail. Continue until you’ve reached all of nails or decide what pattern you want! You can also use an electric dotting tool or a special machine if you’d like something extra fancy. The possibilities are endless when it comes to dots.

2) Stars

 

Star nail shape is one the unique style. It looks stylish and classical at the same time, but for a better result you need a good quality of nails and also have patience with it because it’s not as easy as you think.
To start with, cut off your nails with a nail clipper and file them down. You can choose any shape you want but I suggest that you make sure that your tip is little bit longer than it actually is so you have some room to work with. Then it’s time for prepping – paint a base coat of light yellow or orange color. For better result, use nail polish from untampered bottles because there might be some floating particles inside (if it happens, just shake well until you get rid of all those floating particles). Let everything dry out for about 10 minutes then apply a coat of dark red nail polish over your nails. Allow drying for another 10 minutes. Repeat these steps at least three times until you’ve achieved what you want.

Stripes are one of the most classic and timeless nail art shapes. They can be done in any color combination and look chic no matter what. To create stripes, simply use a striping brush or a toothpick to make evenly spaced lines on your nails. You can make them as thick or thin as you’d like.
If you want a more unique take on stripes, you can opt for chevron-style stripes. To create these, use tape or some other guide like a paper clip to make your lines so they point in a specific direction. You’ll then need some polish in that color, and maybe another lighter shade to add shadows. Paint all of your nails normally first and let them dry before you apply one coat of each nail with polish on it, letting it dry again before adding a second coat of normal polish. Use another brush or something else pointy like an orange stick to tap down both sides at once to create ridges in your design. After everything is totally dry, you can file everything down even so that it’s smooth.

4) Triangles

First up are triangles! To create this shape, simply file your nails into a point at the tip. You can make them as sharp or as blunt as you’d like. This shape is perfect for those who want something a little different but still classic.
This shape works best on shorter nails, especially if you want your nail art to be prominent and stand out. It’s also great for those who like blunt tips or want something a little more relaxed and subtle looking. You can add a bit of dimension by using two different shades of polish – choose a lighter one for your base colour, then use a darker shade over top. Or you can try using glitter polish or even adding studs around your triangle shapes as an edgy touch! You can even go wild with designs on either side of your nail or add it as an accent! It’s all up to you! If you’re going with shorter nails, however, make sure that when choosing darker colors (such as black), not to let them get too dark.

To get this look, file your nails into a squoval (a square-oval hybrid) shape and then use a clear base coat. Once that’s dry, paint on your favorite color. We love a glossy red or nude shade.
