Chrome Manicures Reigned Supreme at the 2022 BET Awards
If we learned one thing from the celebrity beauty looks at the 2022 BET awards, it’s that the chrome-manicure trend is here to stay. Previously seen on celebrities like Dua Lipa and Zendaya, the trend has continued to gain popularity over the last few months. Most recently, Hailey Bieber put her own spin on the style and dubbed her version of a chrome manicure “glazed-doughnut nails,” and the look has been going viral on TikTok ever since.
At the 2022 BET Awards this Sunday night, we spotted more chrome manicures than we could count. If you’re still unfamiliar with the trend, “chrome nails are a type of nail design or polish that uses special ingredients in chrome powder to give a metallic, reflective, mirrored finish to the nail,” celebrity manicurist and educator Julie Kandalec previously told POPSUGAR. “Chrome can be used on the entire nail or in partially targeted areas of the nail bed as part of the design of the nail art.”
To achieve chrome nails of your own, you can either purchase a chrome nail polish such as CND Shellac’s Silver Chrome ($15), or you can use a chrome powder like the OPI Chrome Effects in Tin Man Can ($25).
