  • A makeup hack that promises to lift the eye area recently went viral on TikTok.
  • All you need are your favorite concealer and contour products.
  • Our editor tested the hack on her hooded, downturned eyes and was impressed with the results.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a hard time with eye makeup. My eyes don’t look similar to a lot of models’ or influencers’, and I’ve always had a hard time finding makeup looks that actually worked for my eye shape. I’ve honestly never been able to successfully apply winged eyeliner (or eyeliner on my top lid period, for that matter), and I’ve definitely never mastered the smoky-eye makeup trend.

During a few of my recent late-night TikTok scrolls, I noticed that a lot of beauty influencers were contouring their eyes with makeup. When I saw beauty influencer Serena Lakkiss showcasing a hack that gave her eyes an instant eye lift using just concealer and contour, I knew I wanted to try it to see if it would work for me.

To test the hack, all I needed was my contour product of choice, concealer, and a fluffy brush to blend everything out. I grabbed my current favorite contour stick, the Rare Beauty Warm Wishes Effortless Bronzer Stick ($23), and my current favorite concealer, the Lawless Conseal The Deal Lightweight Full Coverage Concealer With Caffeine ($26). In Lakkiss’s video, she used a contour pen to draw a precise line, so I opted to apply my concealer to a makeup brush and then draw it on that way.

I started at the inside corner of my eye at my crease line and drew a line following my crease to the outer corner. To finish, I flicked the pen upward and outward, kind of like a winged eyeliner. Next, I drew a line starting from the outer corner of my eye going upward and outward and connected it to the line at my crease. The end result looked a bit like the graphic-eyeliner trend.

From there, I took my concealer and, starting at the middle of the contour line on my crease, traced the area above it using my concealer’s applicator. Next, I did the same thing underneath the contour line at the bottom of my eye, and I connected the two concealer lines. I let both the contour and concealer sit for a few minutes to let the makeup set, then I took a fluffy brush and blended everything out.

After doing just one eye, I immediately noticed what a difference it made. The darker shade almost gave my eye a faux winged look that made my eye look more lifted and awake. It fully replaced the need for me to add any eyeshadow to my upper lid, and I loved how it gave my eye a contoured look in just a few simple steps.

This hack definitely won’t work if you’re planning to apply a bolder eyeshadow look, but if you are like me and rarely wear eye makeup in the first place, this hack is absolutely perfect. It only takes a few seconds, but it really does lift and contour your eye area, no matter your eye shape. I’ve already started incorporating this hack into my everyday makeup routine. If you’ve been looking for an easy way to give your eyes a lifted look, try out this hack. It only takes a few minutes, and the results speak for themselves.
