Megan Thee Stallion’s creativity with her hairstyles is truly unmatched. The rapper has moved on from her eye-catching green bob to long, sleek, jet-black hair with a fun surprise added: tinsel.
Megan’s go-to hairstylist, Kellon Deryck, posted a picture of her on Instagram at what appears to be a photo shoot, and aside from her lipstick-shaped nails with neon cherry designs (which are just fantastic), the multicolored tinsel in her hair was the star of the show.
But what exactly is tinsel hair? The trend is where “tiny threads of tinsel [are] secured to strands of hair to add subtle sparkle . . . similar to micro ring extensions,” hairstylist Emma May previously told POPSUGAR. It’s easy to see why the trend has become Gen Z’s latest obsession. With an endless number of tinsel combinations to choose from, the look just screams main-character energy. It’s relatively easy to achieve and a fun, nonpermanent way to play with color.
