Who Are You Wearing? Shawn Mendes's Met Gala Nails Hold the Answer
Shawn Mendes wasn’t subtle with his nail art at the 2022 Met Gala. The singer attended the event for the fourth time wearing a navy Tommy Hilfiger suit and matching coat with burgundy paneling. His patriotic look, in line with the fashion event’s “Gilded Glamour” theme, was paired with a navy manicure and an accent nail bearing the Tommy Hilfiger logo.
The manicure was done by nail artist Betina Goldstein, who tells POPSUGAR, “We wanted to take inspiration from Shawn’s Tommy Hilfiger look and brought that out in his nails, which resulted in a matte navy-blue look with an iconic feature nail and gold clusters for an extra pop.”
Using products by CND, Goldstein applied the brand’s base coat, followed by two layers of Shellac Winter Nights. The logo was achieved by using the nail-polish shades Decadence and Studio White. Lastly, Goldstein sealed the art with the Shellac Matte Top Coat, and gold embellishments were placed on each nail using the Plexigel Builder. SolarOil was used at the very end to leave his cuticles hydrated.
